SIGH

"Any man's death dimishes me." - John Donne

So we got that bastard Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Supposedly one of the great terrorist in the whole Iraq thingy going on. Supposedly this guy actually held the knife that lopped off heads of civilians. We dropped a bomb on him, he died. So did his spiritual advisor and five others including women and children. There was a 25 million dollar bounty for information leading to his capture or death. I bet no one sees a dime of that money. How do you pay a bomb. Or a fighter pilot just "doing his duty."

Of course It's king george who tells us that this man was actually the knife wielder. Of course I believe king george.

So we got the bastard. Of course King George tells us that other insurgents will rise and the mission in Iraq must continue. King George wields a pen instead of a knife, but the heads just keep on rollin.

i, like you, am not excited nor jubilant at Zarqwi's death. the man was a bastard, but he was a bastard in a world populated by bastards. i, also like you, have any doubts of any individual seeing one drop of that reward money.
you'll notice that earlier today they named a successor. hard to have doubt when you have the power of god on your side. they matyred Zarqwi, and now a new one has taken his place.

i'd feel better about the situation if, and only if, this wasn't a subtle ploy to curry the favor of the american people. i wouldn't be the least surprised if some upper lacky at the white house didn't dial a general and tell them to bomb the hell out of where thier reports Zarqwi was staying. nor would i be surprised if they hadn't had this intelligence for several months, sitting on it waiting for the go from the president.
now we must be villigant. sure we killed a hornet, but we did it by shaking up the nest, and the other hornet's are now pissed. i do not think this was a mistake in reasoning or logic on the administrations part. if they piss the crazy religious folk into action, then they can use any attacks (or hell just threats) to bolster their cause.
makes me wonder what their cause is again... morality? freedom? democracy?
    oh yes i remember...

    power.

It's funny, too, how al-Zarqawi was more of a U.S. boogeyman than he was in the Middle East. He was from Jordan and most Iraqis didn't trust him because he was an outsider.

Bush was able to make this guy be the bad guy and try to deflect from bin Laden still being around. Of course with Bush, fool some of the people all of the time... (that would be the crotch-scratching, nose-picking, buck-toothed far-righties who just like to see people get shot, 'blowed-up', or die in some other miserable fashion.

How about the right wing crap about the suicides in Guantanamo being 'an act of war'? Those poor bastards killed themselves in a jail cell!!!

We really ARE living in the strangest of times.

hmm, i didn't hear anything about the guantanamo suicides. i'd heard a several had attempted it over the last several years (when it looks like you've got no hope why not). of course there are weeks where i don't catch much news, unfortunantly. it's sickening that the right wingers would say that. i'd like to disbelieve it, but it sounds too much like something they would claim.
wonder who our next boogey man is going to be?
